Why Jaclyn Smith rewore her dress from son’s wedding at the 2026 Emmys

 

Jaclyn Smith made a special appearance at the 2026 Emmy Awards, reuniting with her Charlie’s Angels co-stars on stage. But eagle-eyed fans saw that she was wearing the same dress as at her son’s wedding. Why? Smith had a sweet reason.

Jaclyn Smith turned heads at the 2026 Emmys. However, it wasn’t because she was wearing a brand-new designer gown. The 80-year-old former Charlie’s Angels star walked the red carpet in a stunning light green Monique Lhuillier dress covered in white feathers and sequins.

But the dress looked familiar for a special reason. Smith revealed that she had actually worn the same gown to her son’s wedding in July 2023.

“I like the color,” Smith told Variety’s live coverage on the red carpet.

When asked about wearing the dress again, she made it clear she had no problem with it, explaining, “This feels like I’m in my nightgown,” she joked.

Some people questioned why she would repeat an outfit for such a major event. But Smith had a simple answer.

“Everybody said, ‘How can you do that?’” she recalled. “Well, if Princess Kate can re-wear something, I can re-wear something.”

Kate Middleton has been known to re-wear many of her outfits, and why not. In fact, some might call Jaclyn Smith a princess too, but a princess of the television screen.

Smith had another reason to bring the dress back out of her closet: She simply loved it, and if that is not the best reason for wearing something, then what is?!

The appearance was especially meaningful for the beloved actress Jaclyn Smith. She attended the Emmys to honor her late Charlie’s Angels co-star Farrah Fawcett and reunited with Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd as the iconic show celebrated its 50th anniversary.


The three actresses later took the stage together to present the award for Outstanding Drama Series, which went to The Pitt.

As Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd walked on stage, they received a standing ovation. Before presenting the best drama, Smith honored her late co-star Farrah Fawcett, who passed away in 2009.

“As I said many times, she’s here and she’s here with us in everyone’s collective memory,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, Kate Jackson said Fawcett “was the shiniest angel of all, and she was loved by millions of people all over the world. And she still is today, and they’ll never forget her and neither will we. And I’m sure you won’t either.”

During its run, Charlie’s Angels received four Emmy nominations. Jackson was nominated for lead actress in 1977 and 1978, while David Doyle was nominated for supporting actor in 1977. The show was also nominated for its sound editing in 1977.
