How Dolly Parton spent her final day on earth is melting hearts everywhere

Last week, the music world was left heartbroken by the sudden passing of Country Music Hall of Famer Dolly Parton.

But even as her health declined, the legendary singer never stopped thinking about the music and dreams she still wanted to bring to life.

Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell, has now shared a touching glimpse into her final days, revealing that the “9 to 5” singer continued working on projects that had not yet been released.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life and loved knowing her work brought people joy. Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come,” Nozell told The Hollywood Reporter.

A legacy still unfolding

Parton was admitted to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on Aug. 21. Four days later, she passed away after “brief battle with cancer.” The type of cancer was not disclosed.

The news that Dolly Parton had privately battled cancer before her death has prompted a broader conversation about why some people choose not to publicly share a serious diagnosis.

Dr. Kristin Higgins, chief clinical officer at City of Hope Cancer Center in Atlanta, suggested that Parton may have wanted the public to remember her for her extraordinary career and the joy she brought to millions, rather than focusing on her illness during the final chapter of her life.

Higgins explained that keeping a diagnosis private initially can be a completely understandable reaction, especially when someone is trying to process the news themselves.

“It’s very natural to cling to that identity of being a healthy, vibrant person without a diagnosis of cancer,” Higgins told Fox News Digital.

According to her manager Nozell, the country icon had spent years preparing for what would come next. Numerous projects were already underway, meaning fans will continue discovering new pieces of Parton’s creative legacy even after her death.

Nozell said he plans to personally help guide those projects and make sure the singer’s wishes remain at the heart of everything released in her name.

“As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life. Many projects were in various stages of development. We want to be transparent with her fans about this fact,” he said in a statement.

And there is one thing Parton’s fans can apparently feel confident about: the material being released through her official channels was something she had personally approved or helped shape.

“If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it,” Nozell added.

Her dreams will continue long after her death

Parton may be gone, but the enormous body of work she left behind is far from finished. Several major projects remain in development, spanning music, television, film and theater. Among them are a Dolly avatar show, a musical documentary, a biopic, a docuseries, a scripted series and even an animated series centered on Billy the Kid.

And one of the most highly anticipated projects is already headed to Broadway.

DOLLY: A True Original Musical is scheduled to open this winter, with Bartlett Sher directing the production. The musical is expected to explore Parton’s remarkable life, career and lasting impact. The Broadway production is set to open on what would have been Parton’s birthday, January 19, 2027.

Her estate has also announced what it calls “the celebration of a lifetime” — a two-day festival planned to honor the country music legend and the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind.

According to the official announcement, Dollyfest: The Celebration of a Lifetime will bring together a star-studded lineup across two consecutive weekends in 2027, with celebrations taking place on two continents and in two of the world’s great music capitals.

The festivities are set to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, and London, England, giving fans on both sides of the Atlantic an opportunity to celebrate Parton’s life and music.

The event had originally been planned for 2026, with Parton herself expected to perform alongside other artists. However, it was ultimately postponed because of her health.

Now, organizers say they are determined to make sure the vision she helped create finally becomes reality.

“What Dolly started, we will ensure is brought to life,” Danny Nozell, Founder and CEO of CTK Enterprises, said of the upcoming celebrations.

Common back-pain drug may be linked to higher dementia risk, large study finds

A pain medication that millions of Americans rely on for chronic back pain may come with a hidden risk: a significantly higher chance of developing dementia or other cognitive problems, according to a major new study. Compared 26,000 adults Researchers from Case Western Reserve University and several partner institutions analyzed medical records from 68 health systems across the U.S., comparing 26,414 adults prescribed gabapentin for persistent low-back pain with a matched group who had similar pain — but didn’t take the drug. Their finding was sobering: Adults who received six or more gabapentin prescriptions were 29% more likely to be diagnosed with dementia and 85% more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment (MCI) within 10 years. The risk wasn’t limited to older adults. In fact, it was younger Americans who saw the most dramatic increases. Younger adults saw shocking risk increases For people normally considered decades away from dementia: Ages 35–49 taking gabapentin ha...

Horrible childhood event shaped this Hollywood star’s journey

For years, this actress has delivered award-winning performances on screen, earning recognition and icon status in Hollywood. Yet her early life was anything but glamorous. Her biological father abandoned her before she was even born, and at 15, she was raped in her own home by a man who claimed he had paid her mother $500. Kidnapped by her stepfather Born in 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico, this Hollywood icon was the child of a brief union between her teen mother, Virginia, and an Air Force airman, Charles Harmon Sr. Her father deserted her then-18-year-old mother after a two-month marriage, long before she was born. Instead, when the actress was just three months old, her mother married a newspaper advertising salesman. Because her stepfather often switched jobs, the family relocated frequently. ”I was desperate for a sense of belonging so I adopted different characters wherever I went,” she once reflected. Her early years were marked by constant moves, fueled by her parents’ alco...
