Four of Michael J. Fox’s kids have announced the awful news

For decades, Michael J. Fox has been the face of resilience, a man who navigated the blinding lights of Hollywood while battling a silent, progressive shadow. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at just 29, he chose to build a  family in the eye of the storm. Now, as his four children—Sam, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, and youngest daughter Esme—step into their own, the world is finally seeing the profound, enduring weight of the news they have carried for years about the reality of their father’s journey. While the public often views Michael J. Fox through the lens of his iconic roles or his tireless advocacy for research, his children have lived the intimate, unvarnished truth of his condition. They have watched the man who defined a generation with his humor and charm face the daily, physical toll of a disease that never rests, yet they have done so with a grace that defines their own character. I gathered my daughter into my arms the way you pull something sacred out of flames

I gathered my daughter into my arms the way you pull something sacred out of flames—careful, trembling, already mourning what might have been ruined forever. Maisie was five, smelling of strawberry shampoo and bubblegum toothpaste, her pink sneakers still laced, her tiny body unnervingly silent against my chest. Behind me, my mother’s voice sliced through the air like a blade dipped in ice, commanding me to leave and take my embarrassment with me, while my father stood watching with his belt hanging slack from his hand, his face twisted into that ugly, righteous mask of a man who believes his cruelty is a  family tradition. My sister, Brooke, stood by, her eyes wet with the kind of performative grief that had always allowed her to remain a bystander to our suffering. I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. If I had stayed to argue, to plead, or to demand an ounce of humanity from people who had none left to give, I knew I would lose the only thing that mattered.Family

I stumbled out into the blinding afternoon sun. The world was offensively normal—sprinklers clicking, a dog barking, the mundane rhythm of a neighborhood that had no idea a monster had just been unmasked in the living room behind me. I laid Maisie on the backseat of my car, my hands shaking so violently I nearly dropped my phone. When the 911 operator answered, my voice was a splintered shadow of itself. I gave the address, the home where I had spent my life trying to earn a love that was never going to be given.

As I waited for the sirens, my mother stepped onto the porch, her arms folded, her expression one of pure, cold irritation. She didn’t see a granddaughter in danger; she saw an inconvenience. She saw a mess that needed to be cleaned up before the neighbors noticed. My father emerged behind her, the leather belt still in his grip, a silent testament to the violence that had been brewing in that house for decades. Brooke followed, finally sobbing, but her tears were too late. The secret she had kept—the truth about my father’s temper and the way they all protected his reputation over my child’s life—was finally being dragged into the light.

The sirens began to wail in the distance, a rising tide of justice that would soon wash over the manicured lawn. I didn’t care about their reputation anymore. I didn’t care about the family name or the lies they would weave to keep their status intact. As the paramedics swarmed the driveway, I held Maisie’s hand, feeling the faint, precious flutter of her pulse. The house that had been my prison was now a crime scene, and for the first time in my life, I wasn’t the one who had to be afraid. I was the one who was going to make sure they paid for every bruise, every lie, and every moment of silence they had forced upon us.

The police arrived, and as they moved toward the house, my father’s face finally shifted from arrogance to a pale, frantic realization. The power dynamic had shattered the moment I walked out that door. They had called my daughter trash, but as the officers led them away in handcuffs, it was clear who the real refuse was. I sat in the back of the ambulance, watching the house fade into the rearview mirror, finally understanding that true family isn’t defined by blood, but by the people who refuse to let you burn.

Common back-pain drug may be linked to higher dementia risk, large study finds

A pain medication that millions of Americans rely on for chronic back pain may come with a hidden risk: a significantly higher chance of developing dementia or other cognitive problems, according to a major new study. Compared 26,000 adults Researchers from Case Western Reserve University and several partner institutions analyzed medical records from 68 health systems across the U.S., comparing 26,414 adults prescribed gabapentin for persistent low-back pain with a matched group who had similar pain — but didn’t take the drug. Their finding was sobering: Adults who received six or more gabapentin prescriptions were 29% more likely to be diagnosed with dementia and 85% more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment (MCI) within 10 years. The risk wasn’t limited to older adults. In fact, it was younger Americans who saw the most dramatic increases. Younger adults saw shocking risk increases For people normally considered decades away from dementia: Ages 35–49 taking gabapentin ha...

Queen Camilla sends clear message to Trump with ‘key’ clothing detail

King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in the United States on Monday for a four-day state visit, stepping into a moment where relations between the U.S. and the U.K. have grown noticeably strained. In the past, Donald Trump has openly expressed admiration for the British Royal  Family. During a visit to the U.K. in September alongside Melania Trump, he spoke warmly about the long-standing alliance between the two nations.Family “The word ‘special’ does not begin to do it justice,” Trump said at the time. “We’re like two notes in one chord, or two verses of the same poem – each beautiful on its own, but really meant to be played together.” Since then, however, the tone has shifted. Tensions have escalated, particularly in relation to disagreements over international policy, including the conflict involving Iran. Trump has publicly criticized Keir Starmer, calling him a “loser” for refusing to support U.S. military action and remarking that he was “no Churchill.” He also ...
