Eric Dane's Widow, Rebecca Gayheart, Seen for the First Time after the Actor's Passing

The beloved TV star's world fell heartbreakingly silent just days ago, but the images left behind are speaking louder than ever.

On February 19, 2026, Eric Dane passed away after a short but grueling battle with ALS, and just one day later, Rebecca Gayheart was spotted for the first time since his death.

Though she has not released a public statement, Rebecca also broke her silence in a subtle but powerful way, and interestingly, another woman in Eric's life did the same.

A Somber First Sighting

On Friday, Rebecca was spotted wrapped in a beige trench coat as she stepped out of the Los Angeles home where the "Grey's Anatomy" actor had been living before his passing, according to Page Six.

She wore glasses and pulled her hair into an updo, carrying a black leather handbag as she exited the property on February 20.

Although the actress and model did not speak to the photographers or shared any real words online, she has chosen a beautiful but bitterweet way to remember Dane.

The Stories She Chose To Share

In the days following Eric's death, Rebecca has been consistently posting Instagram Stories filled with memories of him and their daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia Dane, 14, on her Instagram. Instead of statements, she let photographs tell the story.

In one particularly touching image, the family is gathered around several birthday cakes for Eric. Georgia sits on Rebecca's lap, while Billie stands behind him, capturing a warm and joyful celebration now frozen in time.

Another throwback shows Eric on a bed with his daughters when they were still little. Billie leans in to kiss him on the cheek, a simple moment that now feels impossibly precious.

In yet another memory, the girls are younger, playing outside in the snow with their dad, and Eric looks genuinely happy as they spend carefree time together.

One photo captures all four of them smiling at the camera at what appears to be an event. Dressed in cozy, casual warm clothes, the girls look younger than 10 year olds, and the family appears relaxed and close.

Another intimate image shows Eric lying on a bed, seemingly asleep, while his daughters in pajamas look up toward the camera from above. It feels like a quiet glimpse into everyday family life.

A different snapshot shows Eric and the girls lying on grass with big, bright smiles. The kind of photo that radiates uncomplicated happiness.

There is also an even older photo featuring Rebecca, Eric, and their eldest, Billie, in front of a Christmas tree. This holiday photo invokes such nostalgia.

One of the loveliest images is in black and white, showing Eric in a garden wrapped around his girls. The eldest sits on his shoulders while the youngest rests between his crossed legs, all of them caught in pure, playful connection.

Another throwback captures Rebecca visibly pregnant at a pumpkin patch while Eric holds Billie. They look toward the camera, happy and full of anticipation.

In one tender moment, Eric hugs Georgia tightly as they sit together on a couch. It is the kind of embrace that feels protective and deeply loving.

Another photo shows Rebecca and Eric standing proudly beside their eldest daughter, who is dressed in a ballerina outfit and full makeup, likely taken after a performance. The pride on their faces is unmistakable.

And finally, one image features just Rebecca and Eric at an event, dressed in casual elegance. Even though they had been separated (not yet divorced), these uploads quietly show that Rebecca still treasured Eric.

Furthermore, each memory feels deliberate and reminds followers that beyond the fame, he was first and foremost a father.

Support From Friends And Fans

As tributes continued, a GoFundMe was created to support Rebecca and their daughters.

The page states, "It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of Eric Dane after a hard-fought battle with ALS, leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world."

It also reads, "Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness."

"As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric's friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs," it finished.

As of publication, the fundraiser has raised $277,962 of its $500,000 goal.

And while friends rallied financially, someone else was sharing memories in her own way.

Another Stream Of Memories

Eric's girlfriend, director and photographer Janell Shirtcliff, has also been active on Instagram followinbg his passing. Like Rebecca, she did not release a written statement, but she has posted Stories.

Some of her uploads show Eric alone in candid moments, offering a several glimpses of him as she saw him.

Most, however, show the two of them together. In one intimate shot, Eric kisses her head as they stand on steps outside a house, capturing a quiet display of affection.

Another image shows them dressed nicely while posing in a sunny outdoor setting.

A black and white photo captures Eric laughing with her while sitting on outdoor lounge chairs, and the mood was light and genuine.

One post features Eric standing next to a horse, calm and composed while wearing a cowboy hat in the quiet barn scene.

Another black and white image shows Eric smiling while getting a tattoo. It's this candid moment that feels the most personal and unfiltered.

Two women chose photographs over press releases, and these glimpses of Eric's life can be the loudest and best tributes of all.

But it's obvious that Rebecca had a much longer history with Eric. Their relationship never fit a simple label, and shesaid so herself. However, it lasted over two decades, through marriage, separation, a divorce filing that never went through, and hard times that brought them back together.

The pair met in 2003 and married several years later, eventually welcoming two daughters. What unraveled between them, and what held, is a story that played out in fits and starts, in courthouses and red carpets and hospital waiting rooms.

When Things Fell Apart

The marriage was not without turbulence. By Rebecca's account, a lot went wrong over the years. The two separated in September 2017 after 14 years together. In February 2018, she filed for divorce from Eric, citing irreconcilable differences.

In a statement at the time, he said the decision was made in the best interest of their family and that the two would continue co-parenting their daughters, Billie, then 7, and Georgia, then 6.

Rebecca requested joint legal and physical custody of both girls. Notably, the date of separation was listed as "TBD" in the filing.

In the years that followed, both dated other people. By November 2024, Eric had been linked to Priya Jain, and on several occasions, the two were spotted on casual strolls in Los Angeles.

The Divorce That Never Finalized

Despite the filing, the divorce never went through. In March 2025, nearly seven years after Rebecca first filed, she moved to dismiss the case. Eric signed off, and the Los Angeles court closed it. They remained, technically, married.

A month later, she addressed their status directly. "We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great coparents," she told E! News in April 2025.

Rebecca added, "We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years, and we had two beautiful kids, so I think that's a successful relationship, and that's how we look at it."

The very next day, Eric publicly announced his ALS diagnosis.

A Relationship Without a Simple Label

In December 2025, Rebecca gave the fullest picture yet of what their relationship actually looked like. By then, they had lived apart for eight years. Both had dated other people. And yet the bond between them had never fully dissolved.

She described it plainly:

"We separated, but we never got a divorce; we were about to and then we didn't. We haven't lived in the same home for eight years; he's dated other people, I've dated someone. It's a very complicated relationship, one that's confusing for people. Our love may not be romantic, but it's a familial love."

His Biggest Supporter

When Eric called Rebecca from a doctor's office in San Francisco to tell her he had ALS, she was at home with their youngest daughter. She described the moment as devastating, and the two wept together over the phone.

In her essay, she also recalled Eric exhibiting early symptoms of the disease, such as struggling to use his chopsticks while eating and dropping food.

In the months that followed, she became his most consistent source of support. The actor revealed as much himself in a June 2025 interview, calling her his biggest champion and the person he leaned on most. "We have managed to become better friends and better parents," he said.

He also walked his first red carpet since his diagnosis that same month, this time with Janell at the Los Angeles premiere of "Countdown" on June 18, 2025.

Rebecca, for her part, was equally clear about where she stood. "Eric knows that I am always going to want the best for him," she said.

Whatever the state of their romantic lives, the actress intended to show up for him through his illness and to show their daughters what that looked like.

Eric Dane died this past week at the age of 53.

More people are coming out as Aegosexual – here’s what it means

As discussions around sexuality become more layered, so does the vocabulary used to describe them. One term now drawing attention is aegosexual, an “identity-less” experience that’s defined by “disconnection.” With gender and sexuality now part of everyday conversation, it’s no surprise that a growing number of new labels are finding their way into the mainstream. Aegosexuality, part of the asexual spectrum, describes people who experience arousal or desire without wanting to engage in sexual activity. At its core, the identity centers on a disconnect between experiencing attraction and wanting to personally act on it. ‘Disconnection’ The concept was first introduced in 2012 by Canadian psychologist and sexologist Anthony Bogaert, who originally referred to it as “autochorissexualism.” Bogaert described the experience as an “identity-less sexuality,” that’s “characterized by a disconnection between their sense of self and a sexual object or target.” In practical terms, someone wh...

Common back-pain drug may be linked to higher dementia risk, large study finds

A pain medication that millions of Americans rely on for chronic back pain may come with a hidden risk: a significantly higher chance of developing dementia or other cognitive problems, according to a major new study. Compared 26,000 adults Researchers from Case Western Reserve University and several partner institutions analyzed medical records from 68 health systems across the U.S., comparing 26,414 adults prescribed gabapentin for persistent low-back pain with a matched group who had similar pain — but didn’t take the drug. Their finding was sobering: Adults who received six or more gabapentin prescriptions were 29% more likely to be diagnosed with dementia and 85% more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment (MCI) within 10 years. The risk wasn’t limited to older adults. In fact, it was younger Americans who saw the most dramatic increases. Younger adults saw shocking risk increases For people normally considered decades away from dementia: Ages 35–49 taking gabapentin ha...
